Japan is a civ in the Civ Battle Royale. It's original capital was Tokyo, and current capital (and only city) is Osaka. It is lead by Meiji.
Japan once held an empire stretching south to the Philippines, but was mostly conquered by Australia. During the war Korea attempted to defend Japan with turtle ships, they delayed the Australian navy and sunk their ships but were overwhelmed by the Australians and Japan was reduced to Osaka and Hiroshima (later captured by Yakutia).
During the global conflict commonly known as WW2, Osaka was lost to Yakutia, however it was recaptured with the help of Korea.
Japan and Tibet are the last remaining civs to follow the Freedom ideology.
